Few people in this world truly love their jobs, and those who do are the lucky ones. I believe that Don Koogler of Koogler Homes is one of those people. His enthusiasm is contagious and his sincerity in trying to please the customer and create a beautiful and structurally sound home is always evident.

Recently, I had a conversation with a designer who worked for a home builder. According to her this builder often declared. " I just build houses for these people; I don't care if I ever see them again." If this is the kind of builder you're looking for, Don Koogler is not your best choice. But, if you want a builder whose work ethic is impressive and someone who is a pleasure to work with , he is a great choice.

We enjoyed working with Don, his wife Ginny, and the rest of the Koogler Homes' gang; and now consider them friends.

Carol and I are thrilled with our home built by Koogler Homes. When we built a custom home in Minnesota in 1999, we learned that it was necessary to visit the job site frequently to make decisions and correct mistakes. That was easy since we were living only a few miles away. When we decided to build in Florida we knew that it was vital to find a builder that we could count on doing the work right since we would not have the opportunity to visit the site very often.

There were numerous high end homebuilders to choose from. We did research on the internet, talked to a number of them and toured model homes. The decision became clear when we talked to subs on the job sites. The subs working for Koogler Homes gave a consistent response. Don expected a great deal and if he wasn't happy they knew they needed to do the work over again but they all said he was fair and a good person to work for. Many of them worked for other high end builders. When we asked who they would want to build their house, they said without question it would be Koogler Homes.

Our home in Minnesota is very formal. In Florida we wanted a home with large open spaces. The plan that Don drew up was exactly what we were looking for.

We were able to schedule a few trips to see the house being constructed. It was exciting to see the progress and admire the craftsmanship. Don treats the construction of a house the way an artist would treat a work of art. Under his direction, the meticulous detail throughout the house is distinctive from all others.

The finished product exceeded our expectations. We enjoy having guests. The excitement that they demonstrate when visiting the house is flattering. It is such a comfortable house for us and our visitors. This will be our last home because it is perfect.
Generally the relationship between a builder and the owner lasts for the design stage, the construction process and then a short period thereafter. When other builders receive final payment they disappear. This is not the case with Koogler Homes. We closed on our home over two years ago and Don and his team remain a valuable resource. If we are looking to change our pool service or just trying to find information about something going on in the community, we can count on advice from the friendly staff. The word that comes to mind when I reflect on our dealings with Koogler Homes is integrity. This is unusual for a builder.

A couple of years ago, we had our 4000 sq. ft. home in North Fort Myers, FL built with Don Koogler acting as general contractor/ construction superintendent. We made many changes to our original plans. Don gave us many ideas as we were building the house; such as adding niches, interesting ceiling finishes, and beautiful moulding in every room of the house. His ideas helped us achieve the look we wanted. If he had suggestions or other ideas, he was not hesitant to offer them - making him a pleasure to work with.

Now that our home in Florida has been completed and all the surveys, permits and inspections are in the past, we wanted to share with you some of our thoughts as to the experience of building a home, with Koogler Homes. This is the fourth home I have had built, but the first time I have done so long distance. Building such a grand home in Florida while still living in Ohio could have been such a daunting task, loaded with problems. I do not believe any builder can take on the intricate project of building a new home without some problems popping up. This is the real world where we have limited control over the weather, inspectors, building code changes as well as managing so many sub-contractors and suppliers. All we had were typical and minor issues that were dealt with quickly, rationally and reasonably. I really expected this project to go as it did as I felt from the first time I met you that your perfectionist and focused personality would see the task done to both your standards and ours. You know that we had met with four other builders over a period of months and were expecting to sign a contract with our choice at 4PM and then hop a plane to Ohio at 8PM. It was a last minute mention by a neighbor who had actually had some very unfortunate experiences building his home just two years previously, that caused us to stop by your model home that very afternoon. That neighbor described the nightmares he and his wife had experienced building their home with another well-known builder in the Cape Coral area. They had heard about Koogler Homes and had seen your model. We met you early in the afternoon and changed all the plans we had made. Once we met you and saw the model the realization was immediate that you would build the home we wanted, with the quality we expected. You handled the project from the tear-down of the old property through to the final detail of our new home. We were very pleased to take possession of our Florida residence two months ahead of schedule. I have already spoken to others who are contemplating building with Koogler Homes, and have recommended you strongly and without hesitation. It has been a great experience and I wish you the best in all your endeavors to make Koogler Homes THE Premier Builder of South West Florida.

Both Don and his wife Ginny were extremely helpful and cooperative both before and during the construction phase of our house. Working long distance proved to be no problem as the work progress continued in a most timely manner and was finished ahead of the projected completion date.

Don's artistic ability, attention to detail as well as expected craftsmanship, shows in every stage of building and every finished room. We expected quality and from Don himself to the superintendent and all of the sub-contractors that's what we received.
